Introducing the new "not like the other 88's", Scott Superguide 88 alpine touring ski. When we think about ideal ski dimensions for exercise uphill skiing, ski-mountaineering (think 14er skiing) and early morning spring corn sessions, 88cm wide “under foot” seems to be a common consensus. Although ideal for skinning up and scrambling up peaks with them on your pack, these lighter, narrower skis are more often soft, floppy and skittish than not. These are not the characteristics found in the Scott Supergerguide 88.

Bringing back their esteemed Superguide line to roaring applause on both sides of the “pond”, American born and Swiss matured Scott Sports is making really lightweight alpine touring skis that rip downhill more like heavier, better skiing, downhill boards. Stiff, stable, damp and lively are what comes to mind with these lightweight chargers.

This is achieved with the new Superguide dual solid wood (Paulownia/Beech) core adorned with strategically placed torsionally rigid Carbon/Aramid fibers along the full length of the ski and coupled with a newly designed 3Dimension Touring Sidecut that has a wider radius on the shovel, a long radius underfoot and a shorter radius on the tail. This profile/core combo allows the Superguide 88 to straight-line it confidently at speed, arc giant trench-leaving turns, and snap quickly when things get tight.

The Superguide 88 has just enough tip rocker and shovel width to float through pow and crud in the backcountry, but with a shape that is fast, stable and at home on rock hard snow. With the 178cm length ski weighing a paltry 1340 grams, this is the ski we want on our back for that technically challenging mountain ascent. But what goes up must come down, and it is the down where the Superguide sets itself apart from the rest of the 88’s in the field. Like a seasoned boxer, the solid, fast and stable Scott Superguide 88 skis way above its weight class!
